The Pre-K 3 Program
The PreK-3 Program is designed to give the children the opportunity to function in an environment away from home. The program offers development in the following areas: Social, Academic, Physical and Emotional.
Socially, the children learn to navigate through the new experience of playing with friends and how to get along! Negotiating and
cooperative skills are developed through the sharing of toys and taking turns. Children learn the difference between acceptable and unacceptable classroom behavior through their peers and from the teacher.
Academically, a wide range of topics are covered throughout the year: Community Workers, Colors, Shapes, Opposites, Holidays and
Holy Days, The Alphabet- Beginning Sounds, Letter Recognition and initial writing, Number Recognition, beginning Math concepts, Identifying quantities,
Animal Life: Farms, Zoo Life, Life in the Sea, Dinosaurs, The Planets, The Seasons and the Daily Weather, Days of the week and the Months of the Year. We also teach Religion through Bible Stories and projects.
Physically, we continue to develop the child's gross motor skills through daily activities in the gym or the playground. We run! We skip! We hop! We learn how to play many games! Our focus on fine motor skills involves the strengthening of the child’s hands, fingers and hand-eye coordination. The children also learn how to take care of themselves by being given personal responsibilities – e.g. removing and hanging up their jackets, emptying their backpack and packing at the end of the day. The children must be toilet trained, however assistance is provided as needed in the bathroom. Children have daily job assignments in the classroom during the day such as Flag Holder, Prayer Leader, Calendar, Weather, Line Leader etc. We also do a good deal of dancing, singing and marching band!
Emotionally, we are there for your child throughout the day as they learn to spend a few hours without you!
Our comprehensive program provides many new experiences for your child in a loving, caring environment. The children are exposed to many concepts which will provide them with a strong foundation for future learning.
